Honorable Sirleaf Ralph Tyler, Minister of Transport,
Honorable Gregory Coleman, Inspector General of the Liberia National Police,
Distinguished Members of the LNP family,
Friends from Media,
Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good morning!
It is a great pleasure to be here. Today, the Chinese Embassy will donate 2,000 motorcycle helmets. Through this donation, we want to work with Liberian government to enhance the public awareness of traffic safety, and “make road safer in Liberia”.
Traffic safety concerns every person and every family. One person’s safety means the happiness of the whole family. Life is paramount, and safety is the top priority. Safety first, and prevention first. Only in safety can life remain meaningful, and happiness can last only in safety. When it comes to safety, there is no room for negligence and carelessness. We need to be vigilant and alert, we need to abide by the law, we need to comply with regulations. Let’s establish a high level of safety awareness, build a safety wall of traffic behavior.
The joint work to “make road safer in Liberia” is to support the development agenda of the Liberian government. As is well known, road construction is one of the top priorities of President Boakai’s ARREST agenda, and a safer road is an integral part of it. To build a safe and efficient transportation system is crucial not only for economic growth, and for the well-being and security of the people, but also for the rule of law in Liberia.
The joint work to “make road safer in Liberia” is to enhance the public awareness of traffic safety. In Liberia, motorcycles play an essential role in daily transportation, but unfortunately, they also present risks to public safety. Every year, many accidents occur on the roads, and the lack of proper safety measures exacerbates the situation. Helmets are one of the simplest but most effective ways to protect riders from severe injuries in the event of an accident. The donation of the helmets is our efforts to help improve traffic safety in Liberia. By distributing these helmets, we hope more and more people will pay much more attention to the importance of wearing helmets, and promote a culture of safety on the road.
The joint work to “make road safer in Liberia” is to deepen our mutually beneficial cooperation. The Chinese government has always prioritized cooperation with African countries, and Liberia is no exception. Over the years, China and Liberia have worked together in various sectors, from infrastructure to agriculture, from education to health. To “make road safer in Liberia” is a testament to our strong partnership and shared commitment to improving the livelihood of the Liberian people.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Not long ago, President XI and President Boakai had a successful meeting during the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC, and both Presidents announced the elevation of the China-Liberia relationship to a strategic partnership. This will bring more opportunities and create a brighter future for further cooperation between our two countries. Today’s event is just the latest example.
I wish the traffic will become better and safer in Liberia. I wish the Liberian people will enjoy a happier life.
Thank you!
