The Senior Management Team (SMT) of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning is aware of a disturbing video circulating on social media, showing one of its employees— a director at the Ministry, assaulting an elderly citizen.
The video was brought to the SMT’s attention on Saturday night, the release went on to say.
Upon learning of the incident, the SMT immediately instructed the Human Resources (HR) and Legal Units to investigate and provide recommendations regarding the employee’s actions.
Both units have completed their review, and the SMT has determined that the employee’s behavior violates Section 4.3 of the Code of Conduct, which states: “All public officials and employees of government shall exhibit good conduct at all times, both at work and off-duty.”
As a result, the SMT, according to the press statement issued on Tuesday, March 25, has decided to refer Mr. Massayan Sorsor to the Office of the Ombudsman for further investigation. In the meantime, Mr. Sorsor will be placed on compulsory administrative leave until the outcome of the investigation is determined by the Office of the Ombudsman.
The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning emphasizes that all officials and employees are expected to demonstrate good conduct both inside and outside of the workplace.
The Ministry also urges its staff to avoid actions that could harm the reputation of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.
