Friends from media,
Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is a great honor and a privilege to join you for the groundbreaking ceremony of the China-Aid Project of National Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Laboratory at the 14th Military Hospital, which is a symbol of our shared vision, enduring friendship, and fruitful cooperation.
Let me first thank Mr. JI Kecheng, senior manager of Shandong Hi-Speed Group and his entourage from China. I also want to thank the Construction Team on the ground and their capable Liberian counterparts. Today, as we turn the soil for this significant project, we are sowing the seeds of a healthier, safer, and more prosperous future for China and Liberia.
As I see, the Project is meaningful. First, the Project demonstrates China’s strong determination to implement the outcomes of the meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Boakai during the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). It is the first groundbreaking facility of China-Aid projects following the meeting, showcasing the elevation of our bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership announced by our two heads of state. The Project serves as a symbol of common commitment to mutual development and cooperation, also embodies the vision set forth during the Summit, that is “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a Community with a Shared Future”.
Second, the Project further exemplifies the commitments made by China during the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC, embodying the principles of the Partnership Action for Health and the Partnership Action for Common Security under the framework of the Ten Partnership Actions. By prioritizing the enhancement of healthcare infrastructure and the promotion of regional stability, it highlights the shared vision of China and Liberia for sustainable development and mutual prosperity.
Third, the Project marks a milestone in the history of the 14th military hospital and Liberian Armed Forces. It will equip the 14th military hospital with state-of-the-art medical diagnostic equipment, including advanced facilities for biochemical testing, pathology analysis, and blood testing. It will also feature the construction of modern medical facilities such as emergency rooms, operating theaters, and ICU.
Upon completion, the project will significantly enhance the hospital’s diagnostic and treatment capabilities, providing Liberian military personnel with a dignified health care environment while offering high-quality medical services to the whole population. I’m sure that the Project will serve the Liberian military, and civilians as well.
Ladies and gentlemen,
As we embark on building this meaningful facility, let us bear in mind that every brick laid here, every equipment set here, every efforts made here, and every dream realized here, will be generalized into an action to accelerate the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development of Liberia, and a monument of a community with a shared future for China and Liberia.
Thank you.
